Hey people.
Well, I'm hanging out here in Cuautitlan (aka my zone like eight months ago) with my future BYU roommate - Nate Francis. My companion went to the pyramids today with some others, but I opted not to go. So, I'm just hanging out here with him until the consejo mañana. By the way, we went bowling and ice skating. Francis owes me a torta and I owe him a liter of coke. And I am no longer lord of the ice dance. {Scroll down to the video.} My god-given talent of floating like a gazelle on the ice [has been surpassed]. There were some ladies there that were really good. We asked them why they were so good and they told us that they are the Mexican Olympic Team. She then told us that they never win (obviously), but they were really good.
Anyhow, the work this week was pretty sweet. We found some cool people and they kind of just fell from the sky. Juanita is being kind of dumb now and always tells us she will go to church, but she doesn't go. So we don't teach her very much now. She is the first person that I really, really thought would get baptized who probably won't. Kind of sad. And Esperanza is still in Michoacan and we haven't found her.
The coolest thing that happened this week didn't have much to do with us. Let me start from the beginning . . .
Hermana Sixta Lozano is the coolest lady in the ward/Mexico. Her family and her husband's family are the pioneers of the Church here in Mexico. She washes our clothes every week for us and gives us breakfast while she does it. She is a saint. Her husband had a series of car accidents a few years ago that left him blind and with various other problems. He can hardly walk and he has to go to the hospital three times a week for blood transfusions and stuff like that. He is only about forty-five years old, but looks like he is seventy. Sixta has to [care for him constantly] and take him to the hospital regularly, but is still always smiling. Her son just got sent home from his mission . . . and they have another son serving in Veracruz.
Anyhow, that is the Lozano family. On Sunday, their youngest son was baptized. We were invited and so we went. The uncle is also in the ward and he baptized little Ezra. The dad was also there and to all of our surprise, he confirmed his son. He can hardly stand or talk, but with the help of another hermano practically carrying him, he confirmed his son. When he was done, we all looked up and the whole room was crying. Ezra hugged his dad and Hermano Lozano started crying too.
It was a pretty cool experience and the Spirit was so strong. The hermano has always served faithfully in the church and is sad that he can't do more right now. Brother and Sister Lozano kind of remind me of my mom and dad. Mom always willing to help everyone (sometimes too much) and Dad being sick of laying in bed, just wanting to teach and help others.
Well, that was the coolest thing that happened this week. I'll keep working hard this week and see what the Lord has prepared for me. I love you all and hope that everyone is doing well. Tell Grandpa I love him and tell him to stop having skin cancer and stuff.
Keep it real. Once Semanas. {Eleven weeks!}
Peace. Love. Happiness.

4 friend{s} had something to say:
WOW - hanging with the ice queens!!
To bad he won't be home in time to totally score some Olympic tickets - I'm sure he is the cutest man they will ever see.
Awwwhh I love the story about the dad confirming his son Ezra, and how Drew relates it to his own mom & dad. Stephanie, I may never meet you, but I know in my heart you are as sweet and compassionate as they come.
Ditto to what the "other" vicki said!
Elder Romney is pretty compassionate himself...it's evident how much he loves the people and wants so badly for them to commit and be blessed!
I loved what he said also. Thanks for keeping this up. It's inspiration to me every week. As are you and Mr. Bill.
